About The AI Firm Index

The AI Firm Index is an independent directory tracking the emergence of AI-native legal services. It brings firms building law around AI into one place so visitors can discover and compare them.

Why this directory exists

A new category of AI-native legal practice is emerging, from new entrants to dedicated units in established firms. The definition is still evolving. This directory makes it easier to find the firms and explore the different ways they work.

Who operates it?

The index started as a simple list of firms on Matt Pollins' blog at www.agents.law. It was ultimately spun out as a separate platform. Matt is an ex-BigLaw Partner and the Founder of Lupl, a work management system for lawyer + agent teams. Lupl was acquired by Elevate in August 2026.

Frequently asked questions

I applied but haven't heard back.

It usually takes a few days to review requests. If you haven't heard back in a couple of weeks, reach out to Matt via the Contact button above, which will redirect you to LinkedIn.

Why wasn't my firm added?

First, check the Definition page and ensure your firm meets the criteria. The most common reasons that firms aren't listed are (1) an organisation isn't a regulated legal service provider (e.g., it is a pure software platform, such as an AI assistant, or it doesn't take responsibility for the work delivered); or (2) we were not able to verify, from the response provided and your public website, whether your firm meets the definition. We are happy to take feedback and do contact Matt.

What can larger firms learn from new entrants?

Interestingly, a lot of people visiting this platform are from large firms, looking to reimagine how work gets done. This includes learning from new entrants, or exploring other opportunities such as acquisitions. I have some strong views on this, so reach out if you'd like to discuss further.
